Representatives of HLRS will visit the Stuttgart City Hall to demonstrate how virtual reality can support energy transformation.

From October 11-24, 2024, science takes center stage across Stuttgart. Featuring contributions by scientific institutes, nonacademic research organizations, high-tech companies, and scientific startups, the event offers a unique opportunity for the public to experience the diverse range of research underway across the city and region.

HLRS is a proud participant in the Stuttgart Science Festival. We invite you to join us for the following event:

Virtual Reality (VR) Tools for Energy Transformation

October 15, 2024, 16:30-22:00
October 16, 2024, 9:00-16:00
Location: Stuttgart City Hall, Ballroom 1. OG
Free admission

To achieve the climate targets, we need sustainable energy concepts in our cities. Cooperation between all parties involved, such as citizens, municipalities, and energy suppliers, is crucial. Digital tools, particularly in the field of virtual reality (VR), can facilitate a fact-based dialog and promote an understanding of complex planning. VR can be used to visualize simulation results in 3D so that, for example, energy consumption, costs or energy system analysis can be experienced. The DiTEnS research initiative (https://www.ditens.de/) at the University of Stuttgart is researching and developing such tools for the energy transition. Visitors have the opportunity to try out these tools in a VR environment and learn more about the topics of participation and visualization in the context of the energy transition. They can also exchange ideas with the researchers and contribute their own ideas.
