Research Scientist
As a research assistant, Patrick Vogler worked on compression strategies for data reduction of numerical simulations as part of the EU projects ExaFLOW (Enabling Exascale Fluid Dynamics Simulations) and EXCELLERAT (The European Centre of Excellence for Engineering Applications). The resulting library, BigWhoop, has already been used for simulation data from the codes NS3Dneo (University of Stuttgart Institute for Aerodynamics and Gas Dynamics) and ZFS (RWTH Aachen Institute of Aerodynamics), and is currently being extended to other use cases.
During his studies, Patrick Vogler specialized in the fields of mathematical and physical modelling in aeronautics as well as space technology and space utilization. His scientific interests include large scale numerical simulations, turbulence modelling, and data compression algorithms.
