EUXDAT

Seamless integration of HPC with Big Data analytics

EUXDAT is a Horizon 2020 project building an e-infrastructure addressing agriculture, land monitoring, and energy efficiency for sustainable development.

Agriculture is a key determiant of health, economic and political stability, employment, business and biological ecosystems, and society. Most attention focuses on productivity, however it is also essential to have a global view in order to address environment sustainability problems. Challenges related to the current and future huge amount of heterogeneous data to be managed and processed are tackled.

EUXDAT builds on existing mature components an e-Infrastructure, which addresses agriculture, land monitoring and energy efficiency. A large set of data connectors (UAVs, Copernicus, field sensors, etc.), for scalable analytics will be integrated. An advanced frontend, where users will develop applications on top of an infrastructure based on HPC and Cloud, which provides monitoring information, visualization, different parallelized data analytic tools and enhanced data and processes catalogues, in order to provide Large Data Analytics-as-a-Service.

Further, EUXDAT aims at optimizing data and resources usage, besides data management linked to data quality evaluation. By the help of task orchestration the best execution target, an HPC center or a Cloud provider, will be utilized. Monitoring and profiling information provide the base for decisions about trade-offs related to cost, data constraints, efficiency and resources availability.
