HPC Spectra

HPC Skills Platform and European Collaboration for TRAining
Keyvisual image main

HPC SPECTRA will promote the development of HPC expertise across Europe by building a comprehensive online platform of training opportunities, making it easy for trainees to find courses that fit their interests and needs.

HPC SPECTRA is supporting the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s goal of ensuring that European scientific and industrial research communities have the knowledge and skills they need to use pre-exascale and exascale supercomputers effectively. Building on expertise and resources developed by the project team in the PRACE, CASTIEL and CASTIEL 2 projects, HPC SPECTRA will help create a comprehensive online platform, called the CASTIEL 2 Information Sharing System (C2ISS), which will make all HPC training opportunities across Europe accessible through a single portal.

HPC SPECTRA works closely with CASTIEL 2, a project coordinated by HLRS that is building and supporting a network of EuroCC National Competence Centers, EuroHPC JU Centers of Excellence, and industrial HPC users. CASTIEL 2 will gather requirements from across the European HPC community during the development of the new training website, and will promote awareness of HPC training opportunities throughout its network once the portal is launched.

HPC SPECTRA will also begin managing the International HPC Summer School (IHPCSS). Started in 2010, the IHPCSS has brought together HPC experts from Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and Japan to focus on scientific and technical issues facing high-performance computing. Held at alternating locations between Europe and the US, the IHPCSS has facilitated international networking and knowledge sharing.
